The Popular Houston/Austin Dry Cleaners Taking up Toy Collections for the Salvation Army

HOUSTON, TEXAS (November 17, 2017) – MW Cleaners is at it again – helping those in need.  All year long, the popular dry cleaners has been pouring themselves out for the community, assisting charities, volunteering, and using their resources to make a difference in the community surrounding them.  This holiday season is no different.  Their fourth annual MW Cares Toy Drive benefits the Houston Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program.

Since November 1, guests picked up angels with toy suggestions at all of the 38 Houston area MW Cleaners locations.  The angels have toy suggestions according to age and gender.  The new and unwrapped gifts are collected at the Houston stores and will be delivered to the Salvation Army Secret Santa Warehouse.  The staff of MW Cleaners also adopted 75 Angels to play a part in the giving.

Families in need signed up for assistance in October.  In order to qualify for the program, the family must meet the federal minimum poverty guidelines to qualify. Children ranging in age from infants to 12 years old are given assigned an angel tag with their age, gender, size, and gift request.  The Salvation Army depends on the generosity of individual donors, organizations and companies such as MW Cleaners to fulfill these requests.  MW Cleaners has been one of the largest corporate sponsors in the past few years.  Last year, they donated over 1,200 toys from their drive.

“The Salvation Army is one of the oldest charitable organizations in our country.  They offer so many programs to help those less fortunate and have a strong commitment to our communities,” said Mike Nesbit, President of MW Cleaners.  “As the ‘neighborhood drycleaner,’ we depend on the support of our local communities.  We believe that means we have a corporate responsibility to give back to the people in those areas, whether they are our guests or not.” Nesbit added.

On December 8, the MWC team will deliver the toys to the Salvation Army and as a thank you, will treat the volunteers to a specially cooked breakfast, cooked by the executive team.  The Salvation Army’s Harbor Light Choir will be there to provide holiday cheer through music.

MW Cleaners has established itself as a significant presence in each of the communities covered by its 38 stores in the Houston area and 13 locations in the Austin area.  Along with its corporate philosophy of community engagement, the company places emphasis on guest service that includes free pickup and delivery service and locker based 24-hour dry cleaning access.  For details on services and locations, call 1-877-MWCleaners (1-877-692-5326) or log on to www.MWCleaners.com.
